Oil of Oregano

Which brand and/ or supplier is the best for quality/ purity/ no filler, etc. of Oil of Oregano. I would like to purchase some, but am confused with all the variety out there. Does anyone here have any experience with the stuff. Which is the better, and why? All comments appreciated!

Howdy Ima, I've read your posts...very informative and a story about trying to save your old friend and digging out nasty butt worms is fine with me.
Any good reference manuals for home grown vet care you use??
Oregano...Hmmm I've a huge patch I've already cut/dried for this year. Home distilation for oil is very work intensive, but possible.
Also I've read many stories about it's healing power.

Good luck

I have the Oreganol P73 that Ima has pictured, there is another you can purchase on Ebay from Virgin Herbs CO. it is called Wild Oregano Oil , much less expensive than Oreganol and has 82.6% cavacrol & 1.88% Thymol.

As far as healing infected wounds, I now have the utmost respect for good raw honey. A month ago at the lake I cut my shin, the lake is really low and must have a funk to it, a nasty black sediment around the shore that I walked through to get into the boat I believe caused a nasty infection where I had cut my shin. Aaaaaaanyway I tried a few different things, Oregano oil being one of them and it kept getting worse I was just about to go to the Doctor and decided to try honey, in 1 day I noticed an improvement and in 3 days swelling and redness had completely receded.... this was a very bad infection. Honey has a naturally occurring peroxide like substance that kills germs/bacteria without impeding the healing process.......all I know is it worked on me, I now swear by it. I just ordered from Amazon a good strong raw Manuka honey from New Zealand renowned for it's healing properties

I read some of the reveiws on Amazon and it seems that biggest problem is that Wedderspoon does a piss poor job of packaging the product and it is has been known to spill out.

Maybe some of the GM family down under can help us out???

EDIT IT SEEMS VITA COST CARRIES THIS PRODUCT!!!

I went to the Local Whole Foods...... they dont have the exact company that you name

But I did see another one and when I looked it was packaged in NZ so I am guessing that it may be the same company selling there product under a different name.

I grabbed the one there and I must say that I really enjoy the taste and can see it as a great snack when your are hungry because it really takes the edge off (plan to keep some in my car)

I will still try and pick up that specific brand though.

Also WF is running a great sale on alot of herbs that lasts until the end of semptember I will be sure to try and stock up oil of oregana (they have the tiny bottel for 29 bucks while viata has it at @35).

Thanks for all the help :ok:

It's not so much a brand as it is the area in which the bees feed, TA. It's the combination of flowers and plants the bees feed upon that give this honey its extra zip over other honeys. The original seller may have been Wedderspoon, but they aren't the only manufacturer that sells it now. I have a couple of jars from one company and another from someone else. Both look and taste the same.

That is kinda what I was thinking but I wasnt absolutely certain. I also picked up some local raw honey I will see how that one tastes tommarow

I really dont have a sweet tooth but it is good to know if I really get a craving I can have something that tastes great AND is good for you.

How cool is that???

Parasites in the stomach and intestinal region will flourish and multiply exponentially as a result of honey ingestion.

Re: Oil of Oregano

All honeys have some anti-bacterial properties. Raw honey, as I understand it, is just unfiltered honey that has not been heat pasteurized and often comes in a solid form. By reasoning of common sense, I would think it would be better than any pasteurized honey, but the Manuka honey from New Zealand has been tested to be higher in healing benefits than other honeys because of the manuka flower the bees gather pollen from.

Here's a site with a bevy of claims: http://www.benefitofmanukahoney.com/

Ima, I looked at the site you posted and that isn't raw honey. I didn't see any where on their site where they listed it as "raw." To get the clear liquid honey, it has to be strained and processed, sometimes with heat. I'm not a beekeeper, so I'm not sure of exactly how it's done.

Look at these jars of the Really Raw brand - see how they are solids? That's how true raw honey looks and this is the type honey you hear the raw foodists talking about that has not been strained to remove the extra pollen, propolis and other things that come in honey straight from the hive. And yes, raw honey IS expensive.

I'm not sure if you mean good or bad parasites, Mark..... sugars will encourage yeast growth (bad intestinal flora), but it's my understanding honey has anti-fungal properties that should discourage the bad flora and assist the good.

Much of the health problems today stem from internal parasites and or fungus. Most people don't even know they have a problem and there is a possible simple solution.

Colloidal silver and probiotics, in my opinion, would be far more beneficial. Using only Stevia for sweetening purposes, until issues such as Candida or parasites are fully resolved. But hey, I'm no Mamboni.

The Oregano Ima refereed to, I have been taking also. I get it at Swanson's
